Yankee Hotel Foxtrot turned ten-years-old last week, and amidst the flurry of tweets and tumbls and Facebook posts and tribute articles I saw posted, I made a note to remind myself to revisit YTF. (It has been about two years since I last listened to it. Shame on me.) Well, I finally got around to it this morning, and holy crap…what a flawless record. An absolute classic.

I don’t hate gays. I don’t hate anyone really. Have plenty of gay friends. I just think getting under people’s skin is great because it is. People need to get over shit. Any god damn word can be offensive if you say it with hate in your heart. I would never call a homosexual a faggot in a demeaning manner. Nor would I call someone a nigger or a kike or a spic or any racial slur based on someone’s race or religion. People are fucking people. And people need to realize words are just fucking words. Be kind. Have fun. And just relax.
